Meeting Minutes  for 18 July 2012 

In attendance: Jeff Singleton, Gina Buckman, Bill Schomp, Tilo Stahl, Struan Grant, Kristy Byrne, Sheri Newmark, Alex Hickman, Barbara Quintiliano, April Zappaterrini

I. Review of minutes from last meeting

Minutes from our June meeting were reviewed. These were accepted.

II. Reports 

Treasurer’s Report 

We have a total of $569.03 in our account, and another $174 in cash.

Group 342 Coordinator's Report 

Jeff Singleton met with the principal at Downingtown West. A group will begin there in the fall. They will meet the fourth Wednesday of every month. We discussed several ideas on how to incorporate the student group with our group and how to engage the students.

Area Coordinator's Report

AI USA has adopted a new strategic plan. This has been posted on the website.

A regional event on immigrant eights is planned for October 6, 2012. This will be a panel discussion and will be held at the Friend’s Center in Philadelphia (15th and Cherry Streets). The panel will consist of two AI staff, one DREAM activist, and a faculty member at a university. April Zappaterini sent around the CVs of several university faculty members to get input from others about whom they should choose as a speaker. There will be an event planning meeting on August 23, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ethical Society in Philadelphia.

III. Actions

To Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, President of the United States of America regarding the arms treaty in Saudi Arabia.

Case File Updates

We wrote letters in support of both of our case files: Siti Zainab Binti Duhri Rupa of Saudi Arabia Mohammad Sadiq Kabuduad of Iran.

NRCAT Update

We did the readings in June and they have been posted on our YouTube channel.

Death Penalty Update

No updates
