In attendance: Barbara, Bob, April, Jeff, Colin, Nancy, Bill, Brendon, Alex, and Marsha

REPORTS

Coordinator (Barbara)
—Barbara and Alex briefly discussed next month's movie event, but the group decided to hold off on the full discussion until after we'd dealt with other business first.

Actions and Updates
—Letter to Iranian officials on behalf of Mohammad Sadiq Kadubvand, one of the Group 342 case files. (We have had no updates on this case since last fall.)
—Letter to the governor of Florida asking for clemency for Marshall Gore, a death row inmate scheduled to be executed on 1 October 2013.
—Letter to the president of Egypt on behalf of two Canadians, Terek Loubani and Derek Greyson, who were arrested in Cairo on 16 August 2013.
—Letter to the Minister of Justice and Interior of Venezuela on behalf of Luis Rafael Escobar Ugas, a human rights activist who has been imprisoned since March 2013.
—Alex had an update on efforts to get more sponsors for House Resolution 281 (which urges opposition to forced organ harvesting in China): the petition has been delivered to over three thousand offices; the Chinese government has been pressuring sponsors to withdraw their support.

New Business
—Barbara will be speaking to Alex's Rotary Club group meeting in March.
—Alex's Rotary Club group will be holding a public event on 9 October, 7-8:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Great Valley Hotel. It will feature a presentation about Rotary Club. Anyone who is interested in attending should contact Alex.
—Jeff is undertaking the task of getting a membership list of local AI chapters, contacting them, and inviting them to attend our meetings.

Movie Event
There was extensive discussion about the planning, promotion, and execution of this event. Some details:
—Event set for Monday, 11 November 2013, at the Tredyffrin Library (address and directions available here). We have the community room reserved from 6:30 to 9. We will show up at 6:30 to set up, and the event will officially run 7-9. The movie, Free China, takes about an hour. After the film there will be a Q&A period with Ann Corson (local physician who is a member of Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting) and Alex Luchansky (member of AI Group 342).
—We should not have a cosponsor. In our promotional materials and at the event, we should highlight AI's role (not that of other organizations). [April]
—We will contact Francine Fulton, the writer for the Community Courier (and other local freebie papers), to see if she'll publicize our event. [Marsha]
—Other outlets for publicizing this event: DOES sites, Patch sites, other area AI groups, Main Line Chinese culture group, Grove United Methodist. Colin will contact clubs at DWHS and the STEM Academy; April will contact college AI groups in the area.
—Marsha will draft a press release and run it by April, Barb, and Alex.
—April will create a promo flyer (using info/image files obtained by Alex).
—Colin will publicize on Facebook.
—Marsha will send Barb list of local Twitter accounts to send press release to.
—GOAL: have all promo materials done by 18 October.
