Book discussion
Selecting an essay from The Zinn Reader (by Howard Zinn) for group discussion: Looking at table of contents for a couple of essays to read as a group. Barbara will circulate table of contents online. Let her know if there’s an essay that strikes your interest.
Other group activities
- Education/Advocacy: Members invited to choose an area of AIUSA’s work and become an advocate. Select an issue that speaks to you, follow it on AIUSA’s website, and bring petitions to meeting. (See AIUSA’s advocacy areas here.)
- Discussion of Secrets, Politics, Torture (Frontline documentary about Senate Select Committee Report on CIA interrogation methods, aired on PBS on Tuesday, 19 May.
- International Day in Support of Victims of Torture: This will be on or around 26 June. Still no details yet of events in Washington, D.C. Barbara will keep group informed.
