Welcome and Introductions
Announcements
The Philadelphia AIUSA group (Center City) meets on the fourth Thursday of the month. Do we want to try to do something with them?
Reports
Barbara brought a letter she wrote to Stephen Hawking about the lack of communication we've experienced with AIUSA officials and about the lack of acknowledgement of the checks we have sent to the AIUSA office over the past two years. Group 342 members were invited to sign the letter.
Actions and Updates
- Barbara distributed a handout titled "How to Prepare an Appeal"
- Urgent Action letter on behalf of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki (Iran) UA236/13
Barbara reported that we actually got a letter in response to an Urgent Action letter we sent to the Chechen government a few months ago.
We signed a "get well soon" card to sent to Kara.
Struan discussed his experience with regional action networks (RANs), in which multiple groups coordinate their efforts.
We discussed the current organizational structure of Amnesty International and some of group's efforts to communicate with the AIUSA main office and regional offices.
